Our construction process:

In addition to brick and mortar, we built our walls with stone and rocks present on our land and from local areas. Our cottages were built with green roofs to keep them naturally cool, and allow them to blend in seamlessly with the incredible landscape around Marchula Estate. We created feature walls using recycled materials such as glass bottles sourced from kabadi wallahs, hotels and friends.

Instead of buying all new furniture, we focussed on finding as many pre-owned pieces as possible and refurbished them to an as good as new state! We even up-cycled vintage doorways to use as headboards in all the guest rooms.

No trees were cut while building the house. Over the last year, we planted a couple of hundred trees on the land and it's surrounding areas.

Our operations:

We run partly on solar electricity and have solar water heating. We grow the vegetables we serve our guests, aiming to be a fully farm-to-table concept.
Our eggs are fresh and healthy, and come from our very own chicken coop.
Drinking water provided in the rooms is filtered, safe for consumption, and in glass bottles. We do not stock bottled drinking water.

We compost our waste, and encourage guests to segregate their trash using the separate bins provided in each room.

We maintain a low light zone to minimise the disturbance to local wildlife. Consequently, nights are lit up by fireflies, not lightbulbs!
