THINGS TO DO
WHILE YOU’RE HERE

Marchula Estate is a paradise for those who like to walk, sunbathe, picnic and tiptoe through the jungle, leaving the barest of footprints.

If you’re a birding enthusiast, this is the place to be, with over 50 species of birds identified in and around the estate. We can arrange for bespoke birding hikes with experienced naturalists.

If experiencing local culture and cuisine interests you, walk half a kilometre up to the Marchula village, a typical Kumaoni village with friendly residents and mango orchards. We can arrange for you to dine or have tea with a local family there. Or you could join the village kids for some cricket!

We’re big on picnics here, and think nothing can be better than soaking in the cold, clean river while enjoying a hamper of goodies from our kitchen!

And if you’re passionate about gardening, our veggie patch would welcome your love.

Working off Grid

Many guests at Marchula Estate say that the sounds of nature (and none of the traffic!) and the lack of distractions visibly improved their creativity, focus and productivity. Also, as the estate is full of lovely secluded spots that you can just carry your laptop, or camera, or easel to – it is great for a quiet, working vacation. If you need to stay connected, ask us for a Wi-Fi dongle.

Take a dip in the river

The river is shallow most of the year round, making it perfect for paddling and exploring.

Picnic

We’re big on picnics here, and think nothing can be better than soaking in the cold, clean river while enjoying a hamper of goodies from our kitchen!
